Chatterbox Cafe – Experience the Wonder!

So popping up on the gluttony scene is a hip new eatery that has people chattering about it (you’ll see it in a minute). A cosy little retreat away from all the deafening chitter chatter (there’s that word again), in another corner of the city lies the newly opened cafe Chatterbox.

The snug cafe isn’t just another cafe to line the streets of Karachi. It has the privilege to stem from Pie in the Sky, said to be one of the leading bakeries in Karachi (More on that later). Located in Bukhari Commercial, stepping inside gives one a warm and rustic feeling, thanks to the vintage antiques lining the brick walls.

I was lucky to visit just before rush hour, so got a chance to roam around a bit, before settling down to some delicious food. I’ll let the pictures of the decor below do the talking so you can make up your mind yourself. (Yes, the pictures could have been better, but hey, I am an eater, not a emm photographer, let’s go with that).

The three course meal started off with Vietnamese Beef Noodle Salad. A fresh combination of sweet and tangy flavours without being too heavy, the starter set the tone for what was yet to come. A yum 4 out of 5.

The second course was a choice between Blackened Chicken with Orange Coriander sauce, Baked Manicotti with Spinach and Rice Bowl with Spicy Beef. I opted for the Blackened Chicken, while fellow blogger Umair Mirza, of the Umairica fame (check out his blog http://umairica.wordpress.com), chose Baked Manicotti with Spinach. The chicken was grilled perfectly, tender without being dry, the sauce however was a tad bit sweet for my liking. I’d give it a 3.5 out of 5. Took a bite out of the Manicotti, on a day when you are too hungry, the dish could definitely pass off as a 4.

And now my favourite part, the dessert! We the cool bloggers, were given a choice of Caramel Budino and Italian Almond and Chocolate Torte and of course we ordered one of each. Ok first the Caramel Budino, yes, that spoon is made of chocolate. A base of Oreos on which sat a Caramel pudding, topped with salted caramel and whipped cream. Very yum indeed. However the star of the night was the Italian Almond Chocolate Torte. One bite and I forgot where I was, or what I was saying. Absolutely divine. The flourless cake was simply too good to be true. I would give it a 10 out of 5 if I could possibly suck more at math than I already do.

The entire meal was wonderful and I will definitely go back for more. I also met the very lovely owner Naila Naqvi, who talked about the exciting menu planned out for breakfast starting from 8am.

Chatterbox cafe is surely chalked out for greatness, the bakery however is another story. Went in one near my house the other day. Bought a walnut pie and some savoury snacks. Nobody would peg the two places to be emm related.

All in all a very pleasing experience. I will probably go again soon to try their breakfast menu, along with that utterly delicious Italian almond chocolate Torte.
